Blaine Mytruk, C.A.

Blaine has played numerous roles in his 30 year business career working with many successful organizations. As a chartered accountant and financial professional, his passions include getting to know the business inside an organization, and developing strong relationships throughout the organization. His internal success is driven by helping others in the business succeed.

Blaine was most recently the VP Finance for Katz Group (retail pharmacy, real estate, sports and entertainment) and Medicine Shoppe Canada (franchising retail pharmacy). At Medicine Shoppe Canada, Blaine helped lead the significant growth of the franchise system and enjoyed working with the franchisees to help educate them on the importance and language of finance.

He has also worked at Telus (telecommunications) where he helped lead the successful implementation of an enterprise wide information system (SAP); Edmonton Telephones where he helped lead the sale of the company to Telus; Echo Bay Mines, a gold mining company where he was involved in accounting and treasury, as well as the controller of the aviation group; a smaller manufacturer where he was Director of Operations; and Coopers & Lybrand (now PWC Chartered Accountants).

What matters most to Blaine is his family (his wife and three children) and doing all the challenging and fun stuff with them. He has been actively involved in the Edmonton community for years including coaching extensively with minor hockey. Blaine plays goal himself, and has been running for most of his adult life (just completed the Vancouver marathon last year) and enjoys golf, among other interests.

Blaine is a part-time faculty member at MacEwan University; a member of Financial Executives International (Edmonton Chapter and Past-President); and a member of the Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants and Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
